Songs In Progress - Free Song Download Series

Making records can take a long time.  Way too long.

That's why instead of making you wait until the album release to hear a single note, I would like to start sharing the songwriting and recording process with you.  Starting Sunday, April 7th, I'll begin "Songs In Progress", a series of free songs sent exclusively to my fan e-mail list.  Every two weeks you will receive a download link for a brand new, unreleased song.

My hope is to take you into my home studio so you can see how the songs are taking shape, and also get feedback on which song ideas are resonating with you.

I have been writing a lot new songs in hopes of releasing a new album in 2013. I have somewhere in the neighborhood of twenty-five finished songs. Each of them is in various stages of development. Some I have already recorded in a proper studio with some fantastic musicians, while others are simple vocal/piano or guitar demos recorded in my home studio. Some are polished, some are raw, some might be rewritten or scrapped altogether.  You will get to hear them all.

If you haven't already, please join me on this songwriting adventure by signing up for my e-mail list.  And thanks for listening!

Hi Rob! I listened several times to "Afterlife" and like it. Lots of movement, a great song to hear in spring, for sure. Sounds of growth within and I appreciate how you taper back at the end. I ask you this, are you tired after performing this, keeping up the rhythm? As a listener, I'm invigorated and energized- yet, it's relaxing. You have a very unique and nice sound. I don't think anything will top "Ferris Wheels Unbound" for me, however. :) Jill

Thanks Jill! You're right, Afterlife does have a feel-good spring vibe and, yes, I did try to peak the song near the end of the solo section. It is a little more demanding on the right hand than most songs, but I have learned to stay loose and keep a relaxed tempo. It only gets tiring if I practice it over and over - which I have done at times! I will definitely have Ferris Wheels Unbound on the record then -- stay tuned. I'm putting together recordings one at a time here in my home studio. Talk soon - thanks for checking in here.
